The old sewing machine juddered along the cloth before clunking to a catastrophic halt. Patsy sighed. “Dropped stitches everywhere. It’ll all have to be unpicked. If that maintenance guy spent as much time servicing the machines as he does Barbara in the storeroom, we might achieve something.”
Suddenly, he was beside her, curls and mischief framing his cheeky face. “Machine stopped? Let me see.” As he leant across, a heady mix of musk and oil assailed her.
“Needs a new hoojamaflip. I think there’s one in the storeroom. Care to help me find it?”
Patsy blushed, “Oh yes, Mr James.”

All my life my family’s been using that word it’s only when I typed it and got a red line underneath it I realised my parents had been dropping their aitches all this time, we thought it was oojamaflip. Thanks for your comment.

Old word in our family but I thought it fitted with the Carry On theme.

I wonder if there will be more unstitching fore it ends.

Yeah I suddenly realised it was a bit in the Carry On style so included Barbara Windsor, Patsy Rowlands and Sid James. Glad you got it. Thanks

He sounds very confident. And his stamina is to be commended too… Nicely done.

In the Carry On films, Sid James was an ugly sort but it didn’t seem to stop him. Thanks Sandra.

Thanks Mike, pleased you got the reference. It didn’t start of as a homage but when I realised how it had turned out I gave them all names of three of the most prominent actors in the films.

Dear Michael,
I guess Patsy doesn’t mind Mr. James coming on when the hoojamaflip is on the other machine. 😉 Cute story. I enjoyed it. Judder is a great word that we don’t use much in the States. However I’ve borrowed it for a couple of places in my novels. I hope you don’t mind. 😉
Shalom,
Rochelle

Wow I’m honoured, use away. I often use FF to experiment with words and phrases. I once wrote what I thought was a killer sentence. All the comments came back about all the phrases round about it, but no mention of that one, which in itself was useful and told me it wasn’t all that great after all.
Thanks for your lovely comment. The Carry On films were full of saucy suggestion and innuendo with Sid James the most unlikely of Lotharios, but when the story started going that way, I just went with it. 🙂

This had me laughing, I guess Patsy isn’t as immune to his charms as she thought!
And excellent use of hoojamaflip, I have always used it without the H too, not realising it was there to be dropped

Thanks, I think it was envy rather than moral indignation that she felt.Ref Hoojamaflip, it’s funny what you learn after so long. Thanks for your comment, much appreciated
