Sorry couldn’t resist, I’ll have another go when the photo arrives
“Hobnobs!”
“Hobnobs? You can’t come in here and say hobnobs. What if everyone decided to say hobnobs.”
“Well what can I say?”
“I don’t know yet, I’m awaiting instruction.” The official straightened his sandy overall officiously. “What are you doing now?”
“Twiddling my thumbs and drumming my fingers on the desk.”
“That may be a skill in itself but kindly desist. You’ll just have to wait for the prompt.”
“Where shall I wait?”
“Wait in here, nothing’s arrived yet, but do it quietly, it’s a photo prompt not an audio, and you’ll have to move when the photo arrives.

Dear Michael,
The wait is over. The prompt is there. But, after reading your story, I’m not too sorry. Fun stuff. Still laughing and shaking my head. Thank you for your patience and for making such sweet lemonade out of my lemon.
Shalom,
Rochelle

So funny. The ‘jobsworth’ came across beautifully. Seems people have been quite innovative whilst waiting for the prompt.

Well, I suppose when needs must. I enjoy FF so much, I can’t let a little thing like lack of a photo get in the way 🙂 Thanks Sandra

Imagination, such a wonderful thing when it arrives, so awful when you have block and just stare at the prompt seeing nothing. Thanks

Lovely dialogue, Michael, funny and realistic too. The characters came through very well. I felt the same this morning – strangely bereft at no FF! Great improvisation 🙂

Oh! This is grand. I wouldn’t change a word of it. You took a “white” prompt and created a fun story.

You seem to have more talents than twiddling thumbs …being inspired to write by an empty white box is no small feat 🙂

Very clever. I love your characters. I agree with Claire’s Monty Python comparison. I can just see John Cleese as ‘the official’.
