PHOTO PROMPT© Roger Bultot
Her determination to photograph him was almost flattering. “To remember the event,” she claimed. She had taken pictures of the others.
“Can I see?” He asked. She passed him the camera and he thumbed through the pictures, quietly deleting select images. “Would you like to go somewhere quieter?” He asked.
She led him upstairs enthusiastically. In the bedroom, her lips parted, she leant into him…and onto the blade. She gasped as a tide of scarlet seeped across her dress.
“I’m sorry, perhaps you were for real, but I can’t take chances.” He said, as he laid her on the bed.

The consequences of taking pictures without asking first. She only had herself to blame

Thanks Neil. I think she’s of the spy community.

Dear Michael,
That was disturbing. If he didn’t want his picture taken he should’ve just said so. 😉

Thanks, Rochelle, I think they are part of some clandestine society, anxious to protect their anonymity

Very well-written, and also psychological study of character. Stunning story in 100 words.

People (young mostly) today do not realize that not everyone wants to star on their Instagram page. Not to mention the parent and children living a new life but still in fear of an abuser finding them. I don’t take pics of anyone without asking first. If they say no, then no means no. Good story!

Thanks. I think these two are opposite sides of clandestine operations. Or at least he believes she could be the enemy

Exactly, he can’t take chances. If she’s innocent she’s collateral damage

Did he take her picture as she lay on the bed bleeding? I bet he did, typical serial killer.

I think he was just worried she was a threat to him and could expose him as a spy or villian

So creepy! I think he deleted the photos to get rid of evidence they were together…possibly? Well written, Michael!

Sounds like a ring of killers, where any one could lead the law to the rest. Of course he had to delete the images. Good thing a permanent record of everything done on a phone is stored in the cloud these days. Facial recognition is going to bust this ring wide open.

What a curious world the murderer must have inhabited. What was he concealing that required murder when there was any possibility at all of being identified? Who were these others that she had photographed?

Thanks, Penny. He’s very nervous of being exposed and kills rather than take a chance

The sinister mood of your story for me conjured up the world of stalkers. The woman seemed like ‘a lamb to the slaughter’, so to speak. very atmospheric.
