It’s a while since I’e contributed here and struggling through this new WordPress process, I began to wish I hadn’t bothered. But I persevered and here it is, brought to you after much cursing, my story for Dale’s picture.

“Gloria, stop crying, you’re adding to the flood.”
She snarled rather than offer the smile he sought.
“One day we’ll look back on this…”
“And laugh? Is that it?”
“I was going to say…with dry feet.”
“Is everything a joke to you?”
“If your feet are dry when everyone’s about you are sodden, you’re wearing wellingtons.”
“Ok, stop now!”
“If you can survive when the water is over your head and all about you are drowning, you’re a fish, my son.”
“That’s enough, what are we going to do?”
“Let the water subside, dry the place out and go again.”

I think in Gloria’s place I wouldn’t be amused either. But reading it with dry feet, I laughed. A lot. Fun story, and welcome back.

Thanks so much for fighting through WordPress to share this! Made me laugh out loud at both points. And not just because I love the word “Wellingtons.” Why is that such a fun word?

Wellingtons is fun in the same way as galoshes, you can muck about in puddles and there’s nothing better than that. Thanks for reading and commenting

There’s always time for a little humour to help a bad situation. Glad you persevered with WordPress!

I’m reminded of a Snoopy cartoon where Linus is doing all he can to break up Lucy’s ‘crab-in’. He finally asks her if there’s anything he’s overlooked. ‘Yes, I don’t WANT to be cheered up!’ Frotunately Gloria’s a bit more understanding. I can sense her beginning to smile… Just like me! A fun story.

Yep, always look on the bright=side. When the water drains as you step into the bath–you know it’s time to take a shower.

YUP … WP is a nightmare now but we have no choices but to keep on keeping on.
Interesting the way he uses humor to keep calm. If it would only work??? LOL
Have a wonderful weekend,

Congratulations on winning over WP (I’m still resisting, having found a way to keep the classic, at least for now)
And some people just have a way of looking at the bright side of things – annoying the hell out of those who don’t! Wonderful take!

Glad to see you back, Michael, and glad you had the persistence to get through the WP editor to post it. I’m always thankful for optimistic souls when I’m feeling defeated. Good story.

Dear Michael,
This one made me laugh. I guess she doesn’t appreciate his misquote fest. Funny stuff. Welcome back.

Sometimes the cursing is the story.
It can be nice to have some levity in a bad situation. It can also get one hurt.
